Our December Safari to Kenya and Tanzania.

The wild animals were plentiful and we saw more than ever expected. One of the goals of a Safari is to see at least one each of the "big five". Lions were everywhere we looked, up close and personal. Elephants were by the herd. We did see one rhinoceros,he was a ways off but we did see him. There were lots of Cape buffalo, they are big critters. Finally did find a leopard, then he was right up next to the vehicle.

December is the short wet season so there was some water to get around. The plains were green and the grass was lush. Live was good for the animals.

We visited one morning with the local Maasai tribe. There were an interesting combination of what the tribes use to be and a very modern touch when it came to tourist.

The Hipo's were lazy critters. All we ever saw was them in the pools up to their snout in the water. There was evidence that they were out to graze in the night but we never saw it.
